Self-Advocacy
The Community Support Network is committed to an innovative program offering for self-advocates in New York State aimed at empowering, educating, and developing social connections for self-advocates. We have three major components to our self-advocacy network:
- Hear Our Voices An educational programming that explores relevant topics for self-advocates. We meet via zoom monthly the third Wednesday of each month from 6pm to 7pm.
- GetWIHDit A social engagement platform with events both in person and online across Westchester County. Our social engagement activities are both designed and led by WIHD Self-Advocacy Coordinator, Brendan Klein.
- Learn to plan your own social events using our Social Events Template
- The Speakers Network offers individualized presentation skills coaching to self-advocates interested in sharing their experiences to impact policy development and disability awareness in New York State. If you are interested in becoming a speaker or would like to invite a self-advocate speaker to an event, please click here.
