What We Do

Westchester Institute for Human Development addresses major social and health issues by developing and delivering medical, clinical and support services to individuals, their families and caregivers.

We care about every person who walks through our front door as if they were our own family.

EVERY YEAR:
In 2022, WIHD provides direct services for people with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities and their families. These services include: primary health care, specialty health care, dental services, speech and hearing, assistive technology, behavioral health, service brokerage, and early intervention service coordination.

  • Provided 36,094 clinical and medical visits to 4,495 individuals
  • Provided 3,758 primary care visits to 1,179 adults
  • Provided 7,821 behavioral psychology visits to 1,107 children and adults
  • Provided 7,992 dental visits to 2,800 children and adults
  • Provided 3,050 audiology visits to 1,741 children and adults
  • Conducted 196 assistive technology evaluations
  • Conducted 302 assistive technology evaluations and loaned 501 assistive technology devices
  • Conducted close to 300 evaluations of suspected physical and/or sexual abuse of children in Westchester County
