  • Project SEARCH at New York Presbyterian Westchester Hospital in Bronxville and White Plains Hospital: This program serves young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the OPWDD system as well as students who are in their last year of high school who can benefit from personalized support in an intensive year of career development and internship experience.  The program is a collaborative partnership and it is a community based, employment training program and is business focused.   Learn more at https://projectsearch.us/

What is Project SEARCH:   

Project SEARCH is a ten-month employment training program that leads to acquisition of competitive skills & continuous improvement, with the outcome being integrated, competitive, entry level employment. Goals include:

  • Prepare interns for challenging, complex jobs
  • Teach essential, marketable skills
  • Give interns a year to build stamina and skills
  • Add value to a workforce
  • Focus on job development and employability
  • Use a strategic, collaborative approach to training and employment

Who do we serve?

  • High school high school students referred by school districts in last year of IDEA eligibility
  • Post-IDEA young adults ages 19–25, with OPWDD eligibility determined.
  • Individuals who enroll in Project SEARCH are committed to a goal of competitive entry level employment at the end of the program
