Applying to the LEND Program

Now accepting applications for the 2026 – 2027 year

REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated interest in working with individuals with disabilities and their families meeting one or more of these criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in a master’s program in one of the LEND disciplines at an affiliated university
  • Accepted to complete a pre-doctoral internship or a post-doctoral fellowship at WIHD
  • A self-advocate with demonstrated readiness to develop leadership skills and share disability perspectives with the trainee cohort
  • A family member of a child or adult with a disability with demonstrated interest in developing leadership skills and sharing family perspectives with the trainee cohort
  • Able to participate in a hybrid model from 8:45 AM to 5 PM on Thursdays from early September to early May (monthly in person at WIHD in Valhalla, NY and remote via Zoom)

    • PERSONAL STATEMENT (See 1st page of application details)
    • RESUME/CURRICULUM VITAE*
    • REQUEST TWO RECOMMENDATIONS:

      LEND recommendation forms – RECOMMENDATION FORM (PDF) must be completed and submitted by two references.

        • If you are a current student: at least one reference must be from a faculty member in your program; the second can be from a clinical or other supervisor
        • If you are not a student: submit two professional references

      Applicants must complete the top portion of the recommendation form before sending to the persons making the recommendations. Please note that the completed recommendation forms should be submitted by the reference directly to the LEND office at WIHDLEND@wihd.org. Recommendation forms should not be submitted by applicants.

    • TRANSCRIPTS (graduate students only–unofficial copy is acceptable)
