And just like that, we’re Back to School! Having the right back-to-school supplies can help children get off to a great start and feel more comfortable and confident. We couldn’t be more grateful for the dedicated members of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated who, for over a decade, have donated backpacks and school supply kits to children participating in WIHD’s child welfare programs. The children are entering Pre-K to High School and may recently have been reunited with their families after a period in foster care or are at-risk of entering foster care. To the extent possible, the backpacks are aligned with the child’s preferences, such as color, size, and artwork (just check out the cute Peppa Pig pack!).
