Jenean A. Castillo, Ph.D., the Assistant Director of Child Welfare Services, a LEND, faculty member and former LEND trainee (2002-2003) at WIHD has been selected as one of Diversity and Inclusion Fellows with the Association of University Centers on Developmental Disabilities (AUCD). Dr. Castillo will join three other faculty members from around the country in working to diversify the AUCD network. This one-year initiative is funded by the Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AIDD).
As a Diversity of Inclusion Fellow, Dr. Castillo will spend the year enhancing diversity and cultural competency of AUCD faculty, staff and students. Dr. Castillo will create initiatives and project deliverables to increase diverse community connections across the country and develop strategies to ensure ongoing efforts and strides towards diversifying a national organization in every state and territory.
AUCD is a membership organization that supports and promotes a national network of university-based interdisciplinary programs, one of which is WIHD. AUCD has a direct impact at the local, state and national levels to advance policy and practice through research, education, leadership, and services for and with individuals with disabilities and their families and communities, in support of independence, productivity, and a satisfying quality of life.
