SUMMARY:Students with Disabilities and School Discipline\, Codes of Conduct\, and Students’ Rights
DESCRIPTION:Federal and State law provide protections for students with disabilities as it relates to\nstudent discipline. Students with IEPs and 504 plans may face out of school\nsuspensions or other penalties as set forth in their district’s code of conduct. This\npresentation will address proactive steps to address conduct before it leads to\ndiscipline. There will also be a conversation on the procedural safeguards required\nwhen an out-of-school suspension is imposed by a school district. The presenters\nwill emphasize the importance of alternatives and how that can be accomplished\ngiven the laws. We welcome all stakeholders to participate and share their\nperspective including families\, school administrators\, advocates and attorneys\, with\nthe goal of ensuring safety and positive outcomes for all students. \nClick Here for Flyer and Registration
