DESCRIPTION:Please note this training will be held in person at: Rockland BOCES\, 65 Parrott Rd\, West Nyack\, NY 10994. \nThis in person training is intended to assist parents and family members\, in understanding the special education process through education laws and regulation. In addition you will receive a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the various members of the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) and Committee on Special Education (CSE)\, particularly that of the Parent Member. You will also learn the techniques and strategies that are necessary to become an active participant in CPSE and CSE meetings. With this training you will be able to join\, if eligible\, committee meetings as a volunteer Parent Member. This is wonderful opportunity to help you support your own child\, build community in your district and support other parents. While this training is open to anyone who would like to learn more about special education\, parents or guardians whose child has or had an IEP in the last 5 years\, will receive a certificate for submission to their school district to serve as a Parent Member at CPSE/CSE meetings. \nNote: This is a four-hour training in two parts\, 9-11 am and 12-2 pm with a one-hour break for lunch.
