Dental Services

You are in: Overview

Welcome to WIHD Dental Department!

Our caring staff provides comprehensive dental services for both children and adults with special needs.

We recommend a child's first dental visit be at one (1) year of age or when their first baby tooth erupts, which ever comes first!

Our services include:

  • All phases of general dentistry & specialty referrals.
  • Outpatient oral pre-medication for those apprehensive special needs patients.
  • Intravenous (IV) sedation (conscious sedation) and/or General Anesthesia (GA) for those special needs patients unable to successfully be treated with outpatient oral pre-medication in the clinic setting.

Ambulatory Surgery (same day surgery) is sometimes required to meet the dental needs of our special patients therefore we have our Intravenous (IV) Sedation/General Anesthesia (GA) Program.

Some special needs patients require oral surgery (extractions, biopsy etc.) under IV SEDATION (conscious sedation). These patients need a higher level of sedation that outpatient premedication does not provide.

Some special needs patients require general dentistry (exam, full series of Xrays, cleaning, fillings etc.) under GENERAL ANESTHESIA. These patients were unable to be treated successfully after many attempts with outpatient premedication in the clinic setting.

  • IV sedation cases (2-3) are done every Thursday morning by the Oral Surgery staff at WMC.
  • General Anesthesia cases are done every Thursday (2 cases) and every Saturday (3 cases) at WMC by our dental staff at WIHD.
