Shirley Tennyson

Speech-Language Pathologist

Shirley Tennyson, M.A., Ed.M., is a speech-language pathologist with special interest and training in working with people who have voice disorders. A mezzo-soprano, her background as a soloist in opera, recital, and oratorio, and her experience in theater led to her specialization working with singers and actors as well as other professional voice users. She holds masters degrees from Ohio University and Columbia University. Her experience includes work in rehabilitation centers, private and public elementary, middle, and high schools, university clinics, hospital out-patient centers, and private practice. In addition to her work at WIHD, she maintains a private practice in Manhattan, where she specializes in working with the professional voice user. She has taught singing for many years and is a member of the New York Singing Teachers Association (NYSTA).
