Maritza Molina, M.D.
Director, Adult Health Care
Dr. Maritza Molina joined WIHD as Director of Adult Health
Care in 2000 and received her New York Medical College appointment
as Assistant Professor in 2001. She completed medical school
and a medical internship in 1979 in her native Bogota, Colombia,
where she worked as a private practitioner and Medical Director
of a community hospital. In 1988, she relocated to the United
States to begin training in Internal Medicine at Lincoln Hospital,
Bronx, New York. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine
at St. Barnabas Hospital, a Cornell University Affiliate in
1991. She remained at St. Barnabas/Union Hospital Division as
an Attending Physician and in 1992 became the Director of Employee
Health Services.
In 1997 Dr. Molina was appointed Clinical Instructor at Cornell
University Medical Center in New York City and in the same year
became the Medical Director of Ambulatory Care at the Concourse
Division of St. Barnabas Health Systems. In 1998, she became
the first Chief of the newly created General Internal Medicine
Division at St. Barnabas Hospital. Dr. Molina has maintained
an active practice in the Belmont and Pelham Parkway sections
of the Bronx, conducted clinical teaching rounds for medical
residents and students, and maintained a strong commitment to
unserved and underserved populations. In addition to her clinical
and administrative duties at WIHD, Dr. Molina teaches medical
students and is actively involved in clinical research focusing
on health issues facing individuals with developmental disabilities.
