Ansley Bacon, Ph.D.

Dr. Bacon joined the Westchester Institute for Human Development as Director in 1985. Since 1989, she has also served as the Director of the Graduate Program in Developmental Disabilities at New York Medical College. Dr. Bacon serves on several hospital and university committees, including the Academic Policy Committee of the NYMC School of Public Health (SPH). She currently chairs the SPH Appointments and Promotions Committee.

Dr. Bacon has been a member of the NYS DD Council for over 15 years where she chairs the Systems Coordination Committee, and serves on the Executive Committee. In 1993-94, Dr. Bacon was selected as a Kennedy Foundation Public Policy Fellow, working in the Senate Subcommittee on Disability Policy. During the fellowship, she worked on the reauthorization of the Developmental Disabilities Act, the Family Support Act, and other disability legislation. She served on the AUCD (formerly AAUAP) Board of Directors for many years, serving as AUCD President in 1987-88. She currently co-chairs the Legislative Affairs Committee of AUCD, and has been active in the LEND Directors group of AUCD. She has been a member of 18 UCDD site visit teams.

Dr. Bacon has extensive grant writing and program development experience. She works closely with WIHD/UCDD faculty in developing grants and programs in WIHD/UCDD programmatic areas. She has served as a grant reviewer for the Administration on Developmental Disabilities, OSERS, and the Maternal and Child Health Bureau.
